When can a cyclist move from the right side of the road to the left side? Under Florida Statute Section 316.2065, a cyclist must travel in the bicycle lane or right side of the road when moving slower than traffic. However, as we note in the video there are three exceptions. First, a cyclist may move to the left side of the road to pass another cyclist or car. Second, a cyclist may move to the left side of the road to turn left. Third, a cyclist may move to the left side of the road to avoid a hazard or if the road narrows.
