When traveling slower than traffic, cyclists must ride in the bicycle lane or right side of the road. But are there times when cyclist can move into the left side of the road? When can a cyclist move from the right side of the road to the left side?

When can a cyclist move from the right side of the road to the left side? Under Florida Statute Section 316.2065, a cyclist must travel in the bicycle lane or right side of the road when moving slower than traffic. However, as we note in the video there are three exceptions. First, a cyclist may move to the left side of the road to pass another cyclist or car. Second, a cyclist may move to the left side of the road to turn left. Third, a cyclist may move to the left side of the road to avoid a hazard or if the road narrows.
