00:07 hi i’m greg barthelette with barthelette law
00:09 and i’m a florida bicycle accident
00:12 attorney
00:13 in my opinion one of the biggest areas
00:15 of misunderstanding
00:16 is whether or not florida bicyclists
00:18 have to obey the rules of the road
00:20 i believe there are many people who
00:22 think they don’t they can simply operate
00:24 under their own rules
00:26 but the reality is
00:28 bicycles and bicyclists are viewed as
00:30 drivers
00:32 and so they have to obey all the rules
00:34 of the road no different than drivers
00:36 so for example
00:38 let’s say a bicyclist is approaching a
00:40 stop sign
00:41 he or she cannot simply roll through the
00:43 stop sign
00:44 no different than a car the bicyclist
00:46 has to come to a complete stop at the
00:48 stop sign before he or she can proceed
00:51 as always ride safely
